Privacy Policy — Hunter Email Finder

Last updated:

The short version

  • Hunter Email Finder uses your own Hunter.io API key.
  • Your API key, search inputs, and saved contacts are stored locally in your browser.
  • The only network destination is api.hunter.io — the developer’s servers do not receive your data.
  • No analytics. No tracking. No data sale.

1. About this extension

Hunter Email Finder (“the extension”) helps you find and verify professional email addresses using your own Hunter.io API key. This policy explains what information the extension handles and where it goes.

2. Information the extension handles

  • Your Hunter.io API key — entered by you in the extension’s settings. Stored locally in your browser and sent only to Hunter.io to authenticate your requests.
  • Search inputs — company domains and people’s names you look up. Sent to the Hunter.io API to return results (email addresses, confidence scores, verification status).
  • Saved contacts and lists — name, email, company website, title, company, confidence, verification status, and any bulk-run results you choose to keep. Stored locally in your browser.
  • “Grab name from current LinkedIn tab” — when you click this button, the extension reads the profile name and any public website link from the active LinkedIn tab, only at that moment.

3. Third-party service: Hunter.io

To provide its core function, the extension sends your API key and your search inputs to the Hunter.io API (api.hunter.io). Hunter’s handling of that data is governed by Hunter.io’s privacy policy. The extension does not send your data to any other third party.

4. What the developer does NOT do

The developer does not receive, store, sell, rent, or share your data. The extension contains no analytics and no tracking. Saved lists and your API key never leave your device except for the API calls to Hunter.io described above.

5. Permissions

  • storage / unlimitedStorage — to store your API key, saved contacts, lists, and bulk results locally.
  • activeTab / scripting — to read the current site’s domain (to prefill a company website) and, on LinkedIn, the profile name/website you choose to grab — only when you click the extension.
  • host permission for api.hunter.io — to send email-lookup and verification requests to the Hunter.io API.

6. Retention and deletion

Data stays in your browser until you delete it inside the extension or remove the extension. Uninstalling the extension deletes the locally stored data, including your API key.

7. Children

The extension is not directed to children under 13, and the developer does not knowingly collect personal information from them.

8. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when the extension changes how data is handled. Material changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
