Why compress and convert images at all

Image weight is usually the biggest contributor to a slow page. Modern formats like WebP and AVIF compress the same visual quality into a fraction of the file size of an unoptimized PNG or JPEG, which directly helps Core Web Vitals, crawl efficiency, and how fast your pages actually feel to a visitor.

This tool runs real compression, not just a re-encode: PNG output uses palette quantization for a genuinely smaller file, and JPEG, WebP, and AVIF are encoded at quality levels tuned for a strong size-to-quality tradeoff by default.

Image compressor FAQs

Is this image compressor actually free?

Yes. No account, no signup, no watermark, and no limit on how many batches you run. There's a 30-image, 15MB-per-image limit per batch to keep the tool fast and available for everyone.

What formats can I convert to?

AVIF, WebP, JPEG, and PNG. You can select more than one output format at once, so a single image can come back as both a WebP and an AVIF, for example.

Which format should I pick?

WebP is the safest default: strong compression with broad browser support. AVIF usually compresses smaller still, but is slower to encode and slightly less universally supported in older browsers. Use JPEG for maximum compatibility with photos, and PNG when you need crisp edges or transparency.

Is my image uploaded anywhere or stored?

Your image is sent to our server only long enough to compress and convert it, then the result is returned and nothing is kept. Nothing is logged, stored, or shared.

Will compressing reduce image quality?

Compression here is lossy, tuned to a quality level that holds up well at normal viewing sizes while meaningfully shrinking file size. If you need pixel-perfect originals preserved, keep a copy of the source file.

How many images can I convert at once?

Up to 30 images per batch, each up to 15MB. Drop them all at once and download results individually or as a single ZIP.
