How the check works

  1. In Single URL mode, the page is fetched server-side and its <title> and meta description are read directly from the HTML.
  2. In Whole sitemap mode, the tool finds your sitemap via robots.txt (or /sitemap.xml), extracts the URLs, and reads the meta tags for each page.
  3. The slug is taken from each URL’s path and measured against a 70-character target.
  4. Every field shows a live character count and a colour state: green is within range, amber is short, red is missing or over the limit.

What is the ideal meta title and meta description length?

As a safe guideline, keep meta titles to about 60 characters and meta descriptions to about 160 characters so Google is less likely to truncate them. Google truncates by pixel width rather than exact character count, so these are targets, not hard limits. This tool flags any title over 60 or description over 160 characters.

How do I check the meta title and description of a URL?

Choose Single URL mode, paste the page URL, and click Check page. The tool fetches the page server-side, reads the <title> tag and meta description, derives the slug from the URL path, and shows each one with a character count against the recommended SEO limit.

What slug length should I use?

Shorter is generally better for readability and sharing. This tool measures the full URL path and flags anything over 70 characters, which is a practical ceiling for a clean, descriptive slug.

Is any of my data stored?

No. Pages are fetched on demand, parsed in memory, and returned with caching disabled. The CSV and TXT exports are generated locally in your browser. Nothing is written to a database.
